WATERBURY -- Dr. John Conant thinks about early retirement every day. Twenty-three years into his career, the 55-year-old Waterbury urologist loves his profession and his patients, but he's frustrated by the continuing fights with Medicare and private insurers over reimbursement rates, pre-authorizations and other issues. He's not alone. Nineteen percent of Connecticut physicians who responded to a recent survey say they are contemplating a career change.
